Our workshop is staffed by highly trained and dedicated watchmakers who display all their skills, often learned over decades, on each individual watch. The meticulous work on a complex mechanical movement or, for example, the setting of high-quality blued steel hands requires great concentration and a very steady hand. Many of the smallest parts can only be seen under a magnifying glass. STOWA's watchmakers thus form the backbone of the company's in-house watch production and its world-renowned service.
The barely 4.5 mm long, small second hands made of blued steel are very sensitive. They are delivered to us threaded on paper strips.
Every operation must be perfect - both for the manufacturer of the hands and for us as watchmakers. In most cases, plastic tool tips are used to avoid scratching the hands.
When setting the hands, both the correct position and the height with respect to each other are important. The watchmaker checks this very carefully after each individual hand.
Our goldsmiths take care of the high-quality surfaces of the cases, clasps and refurbishments as part of service and repair work with their craftsmanship. A feeling for perfect surfaces as well as the processing of these with the most different tools and abrasives is irreplaceable. The goldsmith's craft complements our aim to achieve not only technically but also optically and haptically the best for your personally selected watch.
The classic engraver was previously responsible for embellishments, which often had only a decorative character. We have modernized the field of activity of the engraver, today his main task is to make your watch unique through individualization. For this purpose we use the most modern technology. Our engravers work according to your wishes and often realize even the seemingly impossible.
Engravings on the rotors of automatic watch movements are very popular - but you can also customize gears, cases and strap buckles.
The laser works extremely fine. Therefore, almost invisible secret engravings can also be realized, just as you wish.
The ready engraved rotor makes your watch absolutely unique. You can specify the text, the font and the size completely individually. There are almost no limits here.
We have the best suppliers for our dials. But every now and then it is necessary to print a logo, personal initials or a serial number on the dial. We do this as a custom design in-house. Since you need a cliché for each print (even if you only do it once), such a custom job costs a lot of money. However, it allows us to make absolutely unique and individualized small series (e.g. as a company gift). In the picture above you can see the last step of printing: after the stamp has deposited the previously absorbed ink on the sheet, it must be carefully lifted from it. The exact positioning of logo or other inscriptions is one of the big challenges here.
First, color is applied to the printing plate. A spatula removes the excess ink.
A tampon stamp then picks up the remaining color from the impressions.
In the last step, the tampon stamp prints the numbers and scales on the dial.
We are here for you.
