The caliber SW215 (manual winding) and SW200 (automatic) already have a stop-seconds function (after pulling the crown, the second hand stops).
The calibers Unitas 6498 and Peseux 7001 (both movements are based on older constructions), did not have a stop-seconds function.
The conversion of these movements would be constructively very complex and expensive (but not impossible), which is why we unfortunately do not offer this.
Our sport models Seatime and Prodiver are provided with a screw-down crown, so that they retain their water resistance even in great water depths.
Other models in our collection do not have a screw-down crown, as these are not to be used as pure sports or diving watches.
Our models with screw-down crown have a water resistance of 20ATM (Seatime) or 100ATM (Prodiver).
Here you will find very detailed information about the quality of our installed movements.
We offer movements in the basic or elabore and top version.
All movements are regulated to max. plus 10 or 15 seconds deviation per day.

Every STOWA watch that is designated as water resistant meets the requirements of DIN 8310 in its original delivery condition. Each of our models has a value in ATM indicated on the back. This value refers to the test pressure. The following values can be used as practical values:
- 3 bar corresponds to 3 atm (approximately 30 m) - the watch can withstand splash water (e.g. Antea KS)
- 5 bar corresponds to 5 atm (about 50 m) - the watch can be put on for showering (e.g. Flieger Automatik, Antea 365 and 390 etc.)
- 10 bar corresponds to 10 atm (about 100 m) - the watch is suitable for swimming (Seatime) - 100 bar corresponds to 100 atm (about 1000 m) - the watch is suitable for swimming and diving (Prodiver)
To use a STOWA watch without problems while swimming, we recommend a pressure resistance of at least 100m. For regular use in water we recommend our Prodiver sport/diver watches. The pressure resistance of a diving watch is given in bar, atm or in meters diving depth.
When diving, the pressure increases by 1 bar for every 10 meters of diving depth. The seals of this watch are subject to a normal aging process or are attacked by external influences, this can lead to a loss of tightness. We therefore recommend having your watch checked once a year.
STOWA uses sapphire crystal on both sides for all watch models (except our Prodiver and Partitio Automatik, which are offered with a solid case back by default).
Every 4-5 years, if necessary, the movement should be cleaned. During this service, all seals are also changed and all bearings in the movement are re-oiled.
Our expert watchmakers will of course take care of servicing your watch.
We can organize the return of your watch for you. To do this, please contact us by e-mail or via the service contact form.
In general, the warranty claim remains valid from the date of purchase of the first owner and is transferred to the second or third buyer.
If you have a problem with your watch and would like to send it to us for inspection, please send the watch to us at your expense. Only after we have inspected your watch for possible damage due to improper use, we will be able to inform you about any costs that may be incurred or whether we will cover the costs.
Please be assured that we will always do this for your benefit. Unfortunately, some customers have already made the experience that watches have come into the secondary market whose warranty period had expired and no longer functioned perfectly. For such watches we can then unfortunately no longer guarantee.
Of course, we are able to perform any service work on these watches, even after many years! We will be happy to give you a cost estimate.
So please pay attention to the date of the first purchase and to the completeness of the papers when buying a used watch. Each STOWA watch is delivered with an original warranty card, which contains the exact model as well as the date of purchase.
Explanation of the design of the STOWA Antea
Since there are always little misunderstandings about the design of the STOWA Antea, we would like to explain a few things here. Emotionless said the whole thing is much simpler than many think.
In the 30's, even famous watch factories from Glashütte bought their dials in Pforzheim! E.g. Lange bought dials in Pforzheim, which coincidentally had features of Bauhaus and Werkbund.
(Source is the Nomos book by Hans Irrek, Design Klassiker, "Die Tangente von Nomos Glashütte"-page 18 - second third).
This fact was also confirmed to STOWA by several people (among others the son and long time managing director of the then largest dial factory in the world).
At that time and well into the eighties, there were only very few companies that had their watch designs protected at all!
It was not until the nineties and the boom in the watch market that more and more companies realized that independent design is very valuable and should be protected (which we at STOWA find completely okay). Nevertheless, there are always companies that dig out an old design and protect it for themselves.
One might think that this is reprehensible, but this is not the case. The legislator provides, for example, that things that have fallen into "oblivion" can very well be rediscovered and protected. It is only the question: "When is something forgotten" that poses a big problem for everyone. However, there are cases in jurisprudence that have been favorable to such applications for design protection. Other cases were not at all clear and were not "forgotten". However, this will always be a difficult decision for the jurisdiction.
It is actually not so much about which company designed these dials, because it is simply not an exclusive design of a company, but rather an era in the Pforzheim and Swiss dial industry.
The real creator or drawer of these dials must have lived and worked somewhere near Pforzheim. Incidentally, the working methods of many existing and earlier dial factories were mostly the same. One had a department with designers who presented their dial collections to the watch producers several times a year.
The watch manufacturer (among them also today very successful brands) picked out his dials and ordered them with his name and possibly smallest deviations from the dial manufacturer. Thus, it must be said quite clearly that former designers in the dial factories made the trend - at least in the watch sector.
Only today, the design of watches and dials has become a very important and large part of the watch industry. However, many watch collectors are also familiar with the countless watches from the thirties, which all used the same design language and today serve many companies as the basis for new models.
Creating something new and not completely forgetting "old".
The triangle at the twelve o'clock position is a defining design feature of the pilot's watch. Why this mark was used is not known. It was originally used on German B watches, and later on all other pilot watch models worldwide. It was probably introduced for better readability and is today - often supplemented by the two dots on the right and left - one of the typical identification marks of this watch type. Often it is the only indication that it is a pilot watch at all.
STOWA cases are made of titanium "Grade 5" and titanium "Grade 1".
>> Titanium "Grade 1" is a technically pure titanium material (3.7025 / UNS R504007) with very good mechanical properties and high corrosion resistance.
Pure titanium has very good resistance to salt water, as well as to various corrosive media (chlorine gas, nitric acids, etc.). Due to the high affinity of titanium to react with oxygen, the resistant and firmly adhering oxide layer is formed on the surface of titanium.
>>Titanium Grade 5 (Material No. 3.7164 / 3.7165) / Ti 6AI 4V is the most widely used titanium alloy. This results from the good ratio between high strength and low density. The material is resistant to sea water and has a high resistance to many corrosive media, as well as excellent biocompatibility. Applications: aerospace, medical technology, turbines, ultrasonic applications, motor sports, sports equipment, watch cases.
Since STOWA watches are repeatedly taken as a basis for individual conversions and customizations, we would like to point out at this point that any conversions that are not carried out by us personally and in the STOWA workshop will void the warranty claims. We will be happy to check with you whether a conversion or individualization is possible.
