If you want to build very good watches, you have to use the best suppliers for individual components. This also includes that every STOWA watch is developed, built and maintained in-house. This way we can ensure our high quality standard at any time and maintain it for years. Permanent control is the basis for noticeable quality. Before, during and after the construction of a STOWA watch, every single part is checked several times. Our suppliers guarantee the highest quality standards, which we have agreed upon with them. Day after day, our employees take care to ensure our STOWA quality promise.
Certificates & Warranty
Each STOWA watch is delivered with a warranty card. On this the STOWA employees certify the excellent quality of your watch. Of course, we provide a two-year warranty on each of our watches.
Value retention
Many STOWA watches from the past 85 years have become sought-after and valuable collector's items. For example, the legendary large pilot's watch, which has been built since 1940, or the Bauhaus watches of the Antea series since 1927. STOWA watches outlast generations if well cared for and maintained. Grows and thrives!
Products made from renewable raw materials are the focus of many companies. But often the extraction and processing of the material taken from nature for this purpose is not at all environmentally friendly. Some results seem to be more greenwashing than genuine sustainability. Not so with us.
But what are actually the special features of grass paper and why is sustainability so genuine here? Grass is the fastest renewable resource that can be used for a paper bag. From the time it is cut until the product is ready, the grass is almost ready to be harvested again. Nevertheless, the availability is limited, because the grass cuttings mainly come from otherwise unused compensation areas, which, as biotopes, may only be mowed 2-3 times a year. This benefits agriculture. The use of compensation areas provides additional sources of income and thus supports jobs in rural areas.
Bees also love the grass paper. Along with flowers and herbs, the grass used for it grows in native wild meadows, free of pesticides and fertilizers. Late mowing promotes biodiversity and thus protects the bee. In addition, the grass has also grown so high by this time that it can no longer be used for animal feed.
The advantages and what is behind them
However, in order for the grass paper to be used as a bag and filled with a usual load, the grass pulp is mixed with about 60% wood pulp or recovered paper. Nevertheless, the figures on the manufacturing process in terms of eco-balance are impressive:
97% energy savings: only 136 kWh per ton compared to about 5,000 kWh per ton of wood pulp. 75% less CO² emissions during raw material production.
99% water savings: industrial water consumption less than 2 liters per ton of grass fiber pulp compared to over 6,000 liters of water per 1 ton of paper for wood fiber pulp.
100% elimination of process chemicals: dissolving the stiffening agent lignin is eliminated in grass fiber. The lignin is contained in the wood fiber and serves to strengthen the wood. For the production of other papers, the lignin has to be chemically dissolved in a complex process.
And how does the raw material get to the mill? Long transport routes are, of course, taboo here. Whereas an average distance of 4,000 kilometers is required for production, the grass pulp from Baden-Württemberg manages with just a few 100 kilometers.
Uniquely multi-sensory: The very special structure of the grass paper not only creates a haptic, as well as optical highlight; the typical grass smell remains with the bag for a while until it is used as a brand and image ambassador due to the gentle processing.

NEW DESIGN - NEW PACKAGING
Our new watch packaging is produced in Europe using local wood and protects the environment by avoiding long transportation routes as well as using renewable raw materials. Our new boxes can also be used sustainably. Whenever the STOWA watch takes its permanent place on the wrist and another creative use is found for the box.
