Many collectors from around the world have often asked why we do not build chronographs for STOWA. Truth be told, for a long time we were not sure what the STOWA Chronograph should look like. We have some beautiful specimens in the museum, but it was a difficult decision to make. Finally, we decided to model it after an old pocket watch from the 1930s. We particularly liked the intricately embossed dial and the simple typography. To translate this into a new, more modern watch, presented a large challenge. The dial has been embossed eight times to achieve the filigree numerals and the even finer STOWA lettering. We chose bronze as the raw material for this model, for the reason that one is able to "clear" the embossed numerals from the silver in the last work step, the silvering, with a diamond. This process is called diamond cutting, as the diamond literally cuts off the thin layer of the silver plating. The raw bronze reappears, now gleaming as a result of the diamond cut. The color corresponds to the pink gold tone of the hands, which of course were exclusively manufactured for this watch. An embossed dial means that a lot of effort goes into tool making and production, however, one can work very precisely, more precisely than with applied numerals (the so-called applications). The printing of the dial is also very subtle and delicate to keep the overall character of the watch elegant. The watch has a sapphire crystal back casing which shows the Valjox 7753 movement.. We build these watches in either a polished or manually fine matte finished casing.
